Golf & Resort "Cast" signs
Located on the edge of Pinehurst, NC as we are, we have some 38 golf courses
within a very small area, therefore it was only natural that Golf signage became a
fundamental part of our business. We found that the course owners and superintendents were
very concerned about the high maintenance costs of redwood sandblasted signage . We
therefore first developed our cast signs specifically for the golf signage market.
 |
|
- We did a lot of research, and came up with the following criteria:
Basic Sign Requirements for most Superintendents and Owners.
Must be easy to read, aesthetically pleasing, be both impressive and yet retain that
comfortable relaxed feel (lawyers and doctors etc. don't need to feel they are in their
offices whilst playing golf). That coupled with a product that must be very low in
maintenance so that once they are installed they can be virtually forgotten by the golf
course staff, and at worst be quick and easy to repair.
- If you have a course that has a history of either logo theft and/or vandalism, or if it
is a new public course where it is expected that golfers will be less than respectful of
course property (when they lose their tempers), then we would suggest using our polyester
resin sign blanks. Although our urethane sign blanks can be masked and their center panels
sandblasted, (or for a really classic look, 3Dcarved lettering and graphics can be
created) we recommend doing the lettering and graphics in High Performance vinyl on
polyester, it has a 7 to 8 year outdoor life and won't fade as quickly as most
paints. Also as mentioned below, it is easy to replace if it gets damaged.
-
- When it comes to using our "standard" or "generic" polyester resin
signs, we recommend using vinyl graphics for three reasons:-
- 1) Because the signs are so strong they are very difficult to
sandblast evenly
- 2) If the vinyl
ever does get damaged, (perhaps with a blow from a golf club) the damaged part can be
recut and sent to be replaced immediately for very little cost.
3) If a particular sign is no
longer required, it can be relettered and effectively "recycled" rather than
having to make a whole new sign.
- .
Capabilities
This is a slightly flexible material mixed with other ingredients which give it a great
deal of strength and generally speaking, if someone hits it with a golf club they will not
be buying a new sign, but a new golf club! It's impervious to woodpeckers as well
as golf balls. I don't claim the material is unbreakable but it is a lot better than the
alternatives. ( I would not guarantee it against chainsaws and shotguns, but there again
if someone comes in with a chainsaw or a shotgun, you have a much more serious problem!).
Key Benefits
- Maintenance free.
- Costs less than redwood.
- Never has to be thrown away.
- Will never crack, split, warp, rot or bleed (redwood signs often "bleed"
resin, discoloring the paint).
- Will only need repainting approximately every 5 to 8 years as the paint fades
gracefully.
- They are ecologically friendly.
