Villas at VIR, apartment/Community sign, appliqued prismatic gold leaf letters on HDU background in brick monument under cupola and roof :
designer T J Bourne
This has always been one of my favorite carved and routed signs. I think it's the simplicity and the smoothness of the sign with the rough texture of all the surrounding trees that act as such a good contrast. Most of the time I try to achieve good contrast by using color and dimension. This time I didn't need to.

I think if I could change anything I would paint the steel mounting bars grey to try to make them disappear

The use of a raised black outline around the prismatic letters really makes them jump off the face of the sign, and just like a picture frame, you should see the effect without noticing the item, in this case, the black outline.
The steel bars that run through the center of this custom routed, carved and sandblasted dimensional sign join onto a complete steel skeleton that runs vertically and horizontally throughout this sign its much stronger than it looks
